Survey Administration
  • Q: Are there any restrictions to number of surveys that I can create?

A: You can create unlimited number of surveys. Please note, however, You can only maintain 20 surveys in your account at any given time.

  • Q: Will my surveys be deleted after they're expired?

A: You can keep your expired surveys on SurveyAnywhere.com as long as your membership is valid. We do recommend that you print out the survey results (on paper or PDF file) and download the raw data after the survey is finished.

  • Q: Will my surveys be deleted after my membership expires?

A: Your surveys are subject to deletion if your membership (free or paid) is not renewed within a month. The surveys and results can't be restored once deleted.

  • Q: Can I mix format A and format B questions in one survey?

A: No. you can't. Format A and B are different formats and can't be mixed. However, you can use Format B survey to simulate Format A questions. For example, in format B, you can have a question says: "How do you like our web site?" and then answer is "Very Much", "Good", "Not Bad", "Don't Like It", "Really Don't Like It".

  • Q: Your format A and B only support up to 40 questions. But my survey have 45 questions, how can I make a survey that has 45 questions?

A: You can't put more than 40 single/multiple-answer questions on one single survey form. An alternative is too break your survey into two smaller surveys.

  • Q: In Format A and B survey, If I enter "30" in the "Estimated # of Respondents" field, does it mean that this survey can only accept up to 30 votes?

A: No. "Estimated # of Respondents" is only used to calculate the "response rate". For example, 10 out of 30 people came to your survey form to answer the questions, so the response rate is 33%. Your survey can still accept more responses even though there has been more than 30 people came visited. It is your membership type (e.g., 39 votes for free account) that decides the maximum number of votes your survey can accept.

Trouble Shooting
  • Q: I got error message when running a survey, what should I do?

A: Please always attach your user id and the survey id to your message when you report any survey issues. Please also include any error message that you got.

  • Q: When I clicked "Survey Results", I was taken back to the login screen.

A: SurveyAnywhere uses "cookies" to remember who you are after you successfully login. Your cookie value decides whether you have access to your surveys (only the survey owner has access to the survey administrator page). If you were taken back to the login page, there is only ONE reason: our server couldn't detect your cookie and therefore decide that you are not authorized to access the survey and then, you are sent back to login screen.

You can do one of the followings:
    • Make sure your "cookie" is "turned on". You can find the switch in the "Preference" (Netscape) or "Internet Options" (IE).
    • If it still doesn't work, try another browser. (For Netscape users, use IE; for IE users, use Netscape)
    • If it still doesn't work, try log in from another PC. This will help you diagnose where the problem is.
    • If it still doesn't work, try log in later.
    • This is most likely a local network or browser configuration issue. Please contact your network support if you still can't resolve it.

  • Q: I modified some survey questions, but didn't see the changes in the preview?

A: If you don't see the changes in the survey preview, please click the 'Reload' button in your browser. Your browser may be loading the cached copy of the survey.
